Castro Marim upgrades area surrounding the Library

Work on upgrading the area surrounding the library in Castro Marim is nearing completion. The local authority anticipates that the work, an investment worth 205,000 euros, will be completed during the month of February.

The project includes the renovation of the water, drainage, rainwater, telecommunications and electrical infrastructure which will all be underground, paving with Portuguese “calçada” and cobblestones on the pavements and the creation of six parking spaces, including one for the disabled.

Aljezur funds work for families in need

The Municipality of Aljezur has made a fund of some 20,000 euros available to invest in upgrading work on the houses of families in need, such as the replacement of roofs, the building of bathrooms and indoor water networks, among others. Six families will benefit from the initiative. The Municipality has also announced the start of another programme for providing help within a short period of time.

Work on Faro Cathedral turned down

The work on the Largo da Sé in Faro received a negative opinion from the different bodies consulted by the local authority in connection with the illumination project planned for the site, Faro Council has announced in a press release.

It will be recalled that the work on the Largo da Sé in Faro has been suspended since last December for evaluation.

The local authority announced that it had decided to work towards the preparation of an alternative project that accords with the concerns expressed by the bodies that gave their opinions, while committing itself to taking care of the dignity of the site and carrying out the work as expeditiously as possible.
