The environmentalist organisation Almargem today argued for the creation of an intervention plan to restore the natural habitats of Pego do Inferno in Tavira, a place visited every year by thousands of people, but full of problems with “no solution in sight”.
João Santos of Almargem told the Lusa agency that he was taking advantage of World Day of Wetland Areas, which is marked on Tuesday, to denounce the poor functioning of the place and appeal to the authorities to intervene urgently.
Pego do Inferno is a natural area located on the final stretch of the Ribeira da Asseca in Santo Estêvão, Tavira, visited annually by thousands of tourists who are mainly attracted by the pool and the waterfall there.
